You can always begin again. A few weeks back I wrote an article about New Year’s resolution versus goal setting yet, here I am again writing about the blessing of being able to start over.
Some may argue that we really can never truly start afresh. Sure I understand that I will never be twenty again, I get that. And yes some of our life decisions will have lasting consequences. However, this does not mean we can’t roll them over to God for redemption, no matter how badly we may have messed things up.
Not only does a new year offer us the opportunity for new beginnings. But may I remind you that so does every new week, and new day. The Bible teaches us that His mercies are new every morning. The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23.
What great hope we have when we trust God for our success and turn over our failures to him.
Are you looking forward to a clean slate? If so make every day a new day. Don’t dwell on your past mistakes, focus instead on what you want to be able to accomplish.
Let this be the year that inspires you to redeem what has been lost or stolen in your life. Make every day count and don’t define your life by your past mistakes.
So pull out your note pad and begin to write out your dreams and goals. Embrace your life deeply and never forget that tomorrow is always a new opportunity to start again.
