If you are wondering if Hershey’s cocoa powder is keto-friendly, you can be sure it is.
Great news, right?! Cocoa powder has no sweeteners and can, therefore, be used in keto baking. This means you can absolutely use Hershey’s cocoa powder while doing keto!
Let’s start off by saying that my love for Hershey’s cocoa powder is two-fold. First, it’s super easy to use AND second, it gives a rich, decadent chocolate flavor.
I can’t say for sure, but I’m pretty sure that the recipe on the back of the Hershey’s cocoa box was the first chocolate cake my mom (Hilda) made way back when. And she hasn’t stopped making it since!
Now, don’t get me wrong I know that there are some fancier, new brands of cocoa powder out there. But, Hershey’s brand has been a staple in my pantry always and has never disappointed me. Not once!
It’s the perfect cocoa powder for all your chocolate keto needs!
Best Sugar-Substitutes For Cocoa Powder Recipes
I have several sugar substitutes you can use when making keto desserts with cocoa powder. If you’re looking for a sweetener that reminds you of real sugar, I’d recommend you try Lakanto Monk Fruit.

It’s hands down my favorite sugar substitute.
The texture of this all-natural sweetener is spot on, plus it barely has an aftertaste. I’m also partial to Swerve which is an erythritol blend.
You could also use the stevia and erythritol-based brand Pyure but I find that stevia-based sweeteners tend to intensify the aftertaste of stevia.
If you do go this route, be sure to use half the amount listed in the recipe since it is twice as sweet.
Lastly, if you can’t easily find a more natural sugar substitute, you can also use Splenda with great success.
