If you are wondering if you can have lemons on keto the answer is yes. This is especially the case since most keto lemon-based recipes use only a small quantity.
Remember you are not having a concentrated amount of lemon juice since a small amount goes a long way flavor-wise. Although lemons do have carbs the amount is minimal.
In fact, there is 1 gram of carbohydrates in a tablespoon of fresh lemon juice, and most of the recipes listed here use anywhere from one tablespoon to 1/4 cup, and the number of carbs is spread out among the entire recipe.
So lemon lovers doing keto rejoice! You can have your lemon-flavored recipes and not have to worry about being kicked out of ketosis.
Best Sugar-Substitutes For Sugar-Free Lemon Recipes
When it’s a sweet-based keto lemon recipe you’ll need to choose your best sweetener option. My top choice is a monk fruit/erythritol blend. My personal favorite is Lakanto’s brand. But you can also use Swerve an erythritol sugar substitute.
You could also use the stevia and erythritol-based brand Pyure for most of my baked goods. However, if using Pyure you will want to use half the amount called for in this recipe since it’s a much sweeter choice. But if stevia is your preferred choice then feel free to use the Pyure brand.
