Keto-Friendly Andes Mint Fat Bombs

My favorite thing about these chocolate mint fat bombs is how much they really remind me of Andes chocolate mints.

Growing up, they were my favorite part of going to any restaurant that had them.

I remember being very little and asking everyone in the family if they had a nickel so I could buy the chocolate mints on the way out of our usual Sunday after-church lunch spot.

Even the employees knew I would be coming with my change to buy as many little mints as I could.

So when I say I’m a big fan of chocolate mints, you know I mean business. The combination brings me a level of nostalgia that we all know. That is truly the definition of comfort food, right?

When we ditched sugar and started a keto lifestyle, I searched for all the sugar-free replacements for my favorite candies, but no one had chocolate mints.

And let’s be honest: most store-bought sugar-free candies have tons of sugar alcohols that can seriously mess with your digestion.

I had to take matters into my own hands and make my chocolate peppermint treats, and that’s how these peppermint cream cheese fat bombs were born!

I even added a little green food coloring to the cream cheese base to give it the same look as my childhood favorite.

These are so easy to make and delicious!  Oh, and they are also a no-bake dessert! That’s right! It can’t get much easier than these fat bombs!

They make a perfect treat for after dinner, especially since peppermint has been thought to help suppress appetites and help with digestion. But these fat bombs would be great at any time of the day.

Whether it’s a quick snack before a workout or a small dessert, just one or two of these frozen fat bombs are enough to keep you fully satisfied.

Fat bombs can also boost energy and give your brain the healthy fats it craves.

These keto Andes mint fat bombs are so easy to make and only take a little effort to make! That’s what makes them one of my favorite keto fat bombs I’ve made.

Making these fat bombs is pretty simple and requires just a few steps.

It’s just a matter of beating the room-temperature cream cheese and butter together until fluffy and then adding in your sweetener, peppermint extract, coconut oil, and food coloring (if you like).

It’s essential when using coconut oil to use refined coconut oil like Nutiva Coconut Oil so that it doesn’t add the coconut flavor to what you’re making. Unless, of course, that’s what you’re looking for.

Then combine your melted coconut oil, cocoa powder, and sweetener, and add this mixture to the bottom of your 1” cavity mold, filling it about a quarter of the way.

You’ll then pop your molds into the freezer for 10 minutes to solidify. Then, add your cream cheese mixture to a piping bag (or use the old “sandwich bag with the tip snipped off” trick) and fill the molds with the cream cheese mixture.

Return them to the freezer for about 30 minutes, and enjoy!

If you don’t have a mold, refrigerate your fat bomb mixture for about 20 minutes until it firms up, and then scoop it onto a parchment-lined cookie sheet using a small cookie scoop.

Then, just place the fat bombs in the freezer to solidify.

Once solid, you can dip them halfway in the chocolate mixture and freeze them to solidify. I recommend you store your fat bombs in an airtight container in your freezer, as they will soften at room temperature.

Why Eat Fat Bombs?

You might be confused about why you should even consider adding fat bombs to your diet. If you’re already following a low-carb keto diet, you’ll probably already know that your main energy source should come from fat.

But if you are new to a low-carb, high-fat lifestyle, adding fat to your diet, especially in the form of fat bombs, may seem strange to you.

In a keto diet, the main goal is to reduce your carbs and raise your healthy fat intake so you can enter ketosis and burn fat for fuel.

A proper ketogenic diet’s macros are usually 75% fat, 20% protein, and 5% carbohydrates. Many people choose to track all of their meals to ensure they stay within their macros, while others simply let their hunger guide them.

I recommend you test what macros work best for you and see how your body reacts because every person is different.

By adding more healthy fats to your diet, you can control your appetite and cravings, have more energy, minimize sugar cravings, and more!

This is why keto fat bombs could be your answer to how to stop craving sugar. Fat bombs provide healthy fats to satisfy your sweet tooth without carbs and sugar!

Don’t Mix High-Fat Foods With High Carbs

If you want to start adding fat bombs to your diet, you must understand that you must also reduce your carbohydrate intake.

I can’t stress enough that adding extra fat, such as fat bombs, to a traditional diet high in carbs can be very bad.

Why, you might ask? High fat and high carbs should never coexist. It’s a recipe for disaster. This is why junk food is so detrimental to our health.

You see, it’s the carbs that make your body store the fat. Dietary fat alone is not the issue. When carbs and fat are combined, you will not benefit from burning fat for fuel.

Instead, you will find yourself packing on some extra, unwanted pounds.

So do yourself a favor and be sure you are following a keto, low-carb diet before adding fat bombs to your diet.

When you’re ready to add fat to your diet, I’ve created several fat-bomb recipes for you that are easy to whip together. I hope you will take a look at these, too.

What You’ll Need For Keto Andes Mint Fat Bombs

The following is a list of tools, equipment, and ingredients you will need for these peppermint cream cheese fat bombs.

Best Sugar-Substitutes For Cream Cheese Fat Bombs

I have several sugar substitutes you can use when making these keto cheesecake fat bombs if you’re looking for a sweetener that reminds you of real sugar.

I’d recommend you try Lakanto Monk Fruit. It’s hands-down my favorite sugar substitute.

The texture of this all-natural sweetener is spot on, plus it barely has an aftertaste.  I’m also partial to Swerve, which is an erythritol blend.

You could also use the stevia and erythritol-based brand Pyure here with good results, but you will need to use half the amount listed in the recipe since it is doubly sweet.

Lastly, if you can’t easily find a more natural sugar substitute, you can also use Splenda successfully.

I just don’t recommend any liquid sweeteners because I find they tend to crystallize when frozen.
